When Charlie Allen learns in April that he has until June to meet his school's community service requirement, he's not sure what to do. Being on the shy side doesn't help him, either. Fortunately, his mom comes up with a project idea that suits him: doing gardening work for Adeline Carroll, his elderly neighbor. But after meeting her, Charlie's community service project turns out to be far more than a once-a-week job. It turns into a friendship.
