The Happy Prince
There is a statue of a happy prince on the top of a pillar from which he can overlook the city.
The happy prince, who had a happy life when he was alive, thinks everyone is as happy as he was.
But when he becomes a statue and watches people after his death, he realizes that there are so many miserable, suffering, and sad people. One day, he asks a swallow that came to him to share the sapphire, ruby, and gold from his body with the suffering people.
The Nightingale and the Rose
A girl tells a man to bring her red roses if he wants to dance with her at a ball.
The man who loves her is so sad since there are no red roses in his garden.
The man cries all day and all night long.
A nightingale who sings for love every night gets his heart pierced by a thorn for true love and makes a red rose grow from his heart with his blood.
The sacrifice of the nightingale is so touching, but, at the same time, it makes the reader think about what the true love should be.
