The Legendary Hero, King Arthur
It seems that the King Arthur legend arose after the fall of the Roman Empire. King Arthur was a legendary king who used to rule England sometime in the 5th or 6th century. Even though there is no historical record that he was a real person, there were some people who might have been the model for King Arthur. The first writing about King Arthur’s life is in The History of the Kings of Britain, and a monk, Geoffrey of Monmouth is said to have written it by mixing history and legend in 1136.
Many believe there is more legend than history in his account. In ancient times, the King Arthur story was passed down along with the Knights of the Round Table story by word of mouth. In modern times numerous adaptations in movies, TV shows, books, etc have been made of it.
