George Burder was an English pastor who helped found the Religious Tract Society, the British Foreign Bible Society, and the London Missionary Society. He opens this sermon with Hebrews 9:27, a verse that states all men will face judgment after death. If life is short, why waste it in sin? Burder asks. He encourages Christians to live their lives for the glory of God but also to look forward to judgement as “a most desirable event; when soul and body being united, and made perfect in holiness, shall be forever made happy in the full enjoyment of Christ to all eternity!”
