The Twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ
Andrew– Simon Peter’s younger brother Andrew was called by Jesus, who said he would make Andrew a fisher of men.
James– The older brother of John, called big James, was the brother (a maternal cousin) of Jesus.
John– He was the disciple whom Jesus loved the most and is known as the author of the Gospel of John and Revelations.
Philip– He was the younger brother of Peter. Philip was known as a man who loved horses.
Bartholomew– He was Philip's friend and was known as Nathanael. He preached the Gospel in Ethiopia, India, Persia, and other places.
Thomas– He was called Didymus, and his scientific way of thinking made him doubt the Resurrection of Jesus.
Matthew– He was a Jew who was called by his other name, Levi. He was the author of the Gospel of Matthew.
James 2– He was the son of Alphaeus (the same as James the younger). He was short in stature and was called a man of short stature.
Judas– He was called Thaddeus. He betrayed Jesus for thirty silver coins, which the chief priests gave him.
He committed suicide later.
Simon– He was called the Zealot, (a reference to his membership in the party of the Zealots or his religious zeal).
Thaddeus– He was called the brother of James or Judas (whose other name was Thaddeus, the son of James, not Judas Iscariot, who betrayed Jesus).
