Meet World Heritage!
Among all the cultural assets and wonders of nature all around the world, we consider that some of them deserve the protection and preservation of mankind, so we designate them as “World Heritage” to protect them. These sites are designated as “World Heritage” by UNESCO. UNESCO is short for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
Included among these are natural heritage sites, cultural heritage sites, and combined heritage sites that mix cultural and natural factors together. Natural heritage sites are places that have a natural environment with great value or animals and plants which need to be protected. For example, there is Iguazu National Park in Brazil. Cultural heritage includes buildings, ruins, sculptures, paintings, etc. For example, there is the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy. Machu Picchu in Peru is a good example of a combined heritage site.
