A young man squandered his inheritance until he had nothing left but an empty trunk.
Amazingly, however, it was a flying trunk. The young man always had longed to travel to other countries and the flying trunk carried him to Turkey.
He met a princess who was kept in a tower and lived a lonely life. He fell in love with her at first sight.
The Flying Trunk is a fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen and was first published in 1839.
This tale was inspired by the flying carpets of “The Arabian Nights” which he loved as a child.
