In a small farm community on the banks of the Mississippi River in Missouri lived Jamie and Ben, who were best friends. Old Earl was also born in the same town. Earl taught music in a small college when his wife passed away, causing him great grief. Earl felt compelled to get away, so he chose to ride the rails, hoboing. Twice every year Earl would return to his town, renew old acquaintances, and perform music along with Jamie and Ben, who always looked forward to Earl’s return.
This is a story about community, friendship, and the joy that short moments together can often bring.
