Hetta er ein søga fyri fólk, ið fylgja dreymum sínum og gera sær sínar egnu reglur at liva eftir.
Hjá likkum flest snýr lívið seg bara um at eta og at halda hungurin frá nevinum. At flúgva gert tú bara, tí tú leitar eftir føði. Tað er endamálið. Men Jónatan likka er eingin vanligur fuglur. Hjá honum er tað at flúgva lívið sjálvt. Ímóti øllum ásetingum í likkusamfelagnum roynir hann at finna eitt hægri endamál og gera tað, hann dugir best og elskar mest.
Hetta er ein fápil um tann týdning, tað hevur at fáa sum mest burtur úr lívinum, hóast málini liggja tvør av tí, sum er normalt hjá okkum, í okkara ætt, í okkara grannalagi.
Við flogi sum myndburði vísir søgan um Jónatan okkum, at fylgja vit dreymum okkara, kunnu vit eisini fáa eitt sjaldsama vakurt flog.
Hetta er ein søga, ið hevur veitt fólki íblástur í slaka hálva øld.

This is a story for those, who follow their dreams and make up their own rules to live by.
For most seagulls, life is merely about eating and keeping hunger away from their beak. You only fly when looking for food. That is the objective. But Jónatan the seagull is no ordinary bird. To him, flying is life itself. Against all rules in seagull society, he strives to find a higher purpose and do what he does best and loves the most.
This is a fable about the importance of making the most of life, even if our goals go against what is considered normal by ourselves, our relatives, our neighbours.
With the metaphor of flying, the story of Jónatan demonstrates, that if we follow our dreams, we may also attain a remarkably beautiful flight.
This is a story, which has inspired people for almost half a century.
